Virtual Tour - RAE railway

You've made it to RAE railway line, which linked the main Farnborough station with the RAE site by running up Elm Grove Road, cross Victoria Road and on into the RAE, and which disappeared when the line finally shut down in 1968. A small stretch on the corner where Elm Grove Road meets Union Street is all that is visible today.

An article from Railway World (June 1968 edition) about the closure of the RAE Railway is available to view.

Where to now? To the West are the former sites of the the Solartron factory, Spooner's Forge, Taylor and Tanner premises, Wright Bros store, the Queens Head, the former Oaks school and Cove Pond, with High View Road, Victoria Road, the Victoria Road Chapel, Kingsmead, Queensmead, Piper's Patch, Farnborough Recreation Centre and the Clockhouse to the East. To the North lies Farnborough railway station joining London with the South. For the full list of locations nearby, pick where you want to go next from the menu on the right.
